This Cookie Policy explains how Nexma, Inc. ("Nexma," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website, sign in to the Nexma platform, or interact with Jax, our AI spatial-intelligence agent. It describes what these technologies are, why we use them, and the choices you have to control them.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners. Cookies allow a site to recognize your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferences and how you use the service.
We also use related technologies such as local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs). For simplicity, we refer to all of these technologies collectively as "cookies" throughout this policy. Some cookies are set by Nexma directly (first-party cookies), while others are set by trusted service providers acting on our behalf (third-party cookies).
Cookies can be "session" cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent" cookies, which remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. The specific cookies we use, along with their purposes and durations, are described in the sections below.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies to operate and secure the Nexma platform, to keep you signed in across pages, to remember your preferences such as language and theme, to understand how our website and product are used, and to improve performance. Cookies that interact with maps and other spatial features help your sessions render correctly and load quickly.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to sell your personal information. Where a cookie is not strictly necessary for the service to function, we rely on your consent or provide controls that let you decline it. The categories below explain each type of cookie in more detail.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
We group the cookies we use into four categories based on their purpose. The categories below describe what each type does and whether you can opt out of it.
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the platform to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as signing in, setting privacy preferences, or submitting forms. Without them, core services such as authentication cannot be provided.
- Authentication — Verifies your identity through Clerk, our authentication provider, so that only you can access your account.
- Session management — Keeps you signed in as you move between pages and projects without having to log in again on every request.
- Security — Detects and prevents fraudulent activity, abuse, and unauthorized access to your account and data.
- Load balancing — Routes your requests to the appropriate server so the platform remains stable and responsive under load.
- CSRF protection — Protects against cross-site request forgery by validating that requests originate from your authenticated session.
Because these cookies are required for the platform to work, they cannot be disabled through our consent controls. You can block them in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent parts of the service, including sign-in, from working.
3.2 Performance & Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our website and product by collecting and reporting information anonymously or in aggregate. They allow us to measure and improve the performance of our service.
- Page views — Measures which pages are visited and how visitors navigate the site, using Vercel Analytics.
- Feature usage — Tracks which product features are used most so we can prioritize improvements.
- Error tracking — Records errors and unexpected behavior so we can diagnose and fix problems.
- Load times — Monitors page and map load performance through Vercel Speed Insights to keep the experience fast.
3.3 Functional Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization. They remember choices you make so we can provide a more tailored experience. If you do not allow these cookies, some or all of these features may not work properly.
- Language preferences — Remembers your selected language so the interface is shown in your preferred locale.
- Interface customization — Stores layout and display choices, including your light or dark theme preference.
- Map settings — Remembers Mapbox map preferences such as base style and view so your spatial sessions look consistent.
- Project preferences — Retains per-project settings and recent context so you can pick up where you left off.
3.4 Marketing & Targeting Cookies
These cookies may be set to deliver content relevant to you and your interests. They can be used to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and to limit how often you see a particular message.
- Advertising measurement — Measures the performance of marketing campaigns that bring visitors to our site.
- Retargeting — Allows relevant Nexma content to be shown to you on other sites you visit.
- Social media — Enables sharing of content on social platforms and measures referrals from social channels.
Nexma does not currently set marketing or targeting cookies on its website. If this changes, we will request your consent before placing any such cookies and will update this policy accordingly.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are placed by trusted service providers that help us deliver and improve the platform. The table below lists the main cookies used across the Nexma website and product, who provides them, what they do, how long they last, and their category.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Type |

| _vercel_analytics | Vercel | Collects anonymous, aggregated page-view and usage metrics. | Session | Performance |

Third-party providers process data in accordance with their own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review the policies of Clerk, Vercel, and Mapbox to understand how they handle information collected through their cookies.
5. Cookie Duration
Cookies remain on your device for different lengths of time depending on their purpose. We use both session cookies and persistent cookies, as described below.
5.1 Session Cookies
Session cookies are temporary and exist only while your browser is open. They are deleted automatically when you close your browser. We use session cookies for tasks such as maintaining your signed-in state and gathering performance metrics during a single visit.
5.2 Persistent Cookies
Persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser, until they reach their expiration date or you delete them. We use persistent cookies to remember preferences such as your language, theme, and map settings across visits. Their durations range from a few months to a year, as shown in the table above.
6. How to Control Cookies
You have several ways to control or limit how cookies are used. Note that blocking certain cookies — particularly strictly necessary ones — may affect your ability to use parts of the platform.
6.1 Browser Settings
Most browsers let you view, manage, delete, and block cookies through their settings. You can usually find these controls in the privacy or security section of your browser's preferences. The links below explain how to manage cookies in common browsers:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Apple Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data.
6.2 Impact of Disabling Cookies
If you choose to block or delete cookies, some features of the Nexma platform may not function as intended. In particular, disabling cookies may cause the following:
- You may be unable to sign in or stay signed in, since authentication relies on strictly necessary cookies.
- Your preferences, such as language and theme, will not be remembered between visits.
- We will not be able to measure performance, which may slow our ability to detect and fix issues.
- Maps and other spatial features may render incorrectly or remember fewer of your settings.
6.3 Managing Your Preferences
Where we use non-essential cookies, you can change your choices at any time through our cookie consent controls on the website. Your selection is stored in a consent cookie so that we apply your preferences on future visits. You can also use the browser settings described above to manage cookies across all sites.
7. Do-Not-Track Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting that signals your preference not to be tracked. There is currently no industry-wide standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. Because of this lack of a common standard, the Nexma website does not respond differently when a DNT signal is present. We do, however, honor the cookie choices you make through our consent controls and browser settings as described above.
8. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, in technology, or in legal and regulatory requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies. Your continued use of the Nexma website and platform after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
